"Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly until you can do it properly"
A quote that made me think (and write) from Zig Ziglar
Good Morning Sunshine, and firstly, I am a day late and I do apologize and I guess it fits in perfectly with todays title. Rather late than never, so let us get stuck in.
Have you ever heard the saying "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you can do it properly" by Zig Ziglar? If not, let me tell you, this quote has been my personal motto for years. It has helped me push through some tough times, overcome obstacles, and achieve my goals. In this blog post, I want to share with you how this quote, along with the power of habit, positive routines, time efficiency, and a positive mental attitude, can change your life for the better.
Let's start with the power of habit. Habits are essential in our daily lives. They provide structure, reduce decision fatigue, and help us accomplish tasks efficiently. However, not all habits are created equal. Some habits can hinder our progress, while others can propel us forward. That's why it's essential to develop positive habits that align with our goals. It's important to note that habits take time to form, so be patient and consistent. Budget your energy wisely, and focus on one habit at a time.
Next, positive routines can help us create the momentum we need to achieve our goals. Routines provide structure and help us stay on track, especially when we're feeling unmotivated or overwhelmed. For example, if your goal is to exercise regularly, create a routine around it. Plan to exercise at the same time every day, and make it a non-negotiable part of your day. Eventually, exercising will become a habit, and you'll no longer have to rely on willpower to get it done.
Time efficiency is another important factor in achieving our goals. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, so it's important to use them wisely. Identify your most productive hours of the day, and use them to tackle your most challenging tasks. Avoid multitasking, as it can reduce productivity and increase stress. Instead, focus on one task at a time, and give it your undivided attention. Remember, quality over quantity. Practicing flow states is a form of productive meditation that you can definitely read about here
To get into the title, I would like to refer to the beginning of this substack project in the second post ‘Why B.Y.E.’ about 1 year and a half ago, and about half way down the article, I ask myself, “where do I start?” and decide that the best place would be at the beginning. I applied the same thought process when I started the Budget Your Energy Podcast which you can find on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts plus more. Where i talk about just starting, and learning along the way. I also always refer to the statement of, ‘life is what happens when you are busy making plans’ and ‘Dive in the deep end and learn how to swim’ . My point is, that very few of us will experience the scrutiny of 1 million listeners or readers or observers overnight in which ever thing you have not yet started, so give it a go, use a method that keeps you accountable, learn from the mistakes you make in each attempt and get some hours of work in behind your idea before you tell everyone and yourself that the idea is not perfect, be a work in progress and not a procrastinator. A car cannot move if you do not put it in gear, and you will never know if you can drive if the car cannot move. On top of that, if you fail, you will have the piece of mind as not to spend your life not knowing if you could or could not do something except the regret.
Join me and be a work in progress, be better today than you were yesterday and look back at the thing you started in 5 years of consistency rather than have this thing being regret that is never realised. I promise I will do the same and am happy to hold each other accountable moving forward.
Finally, a positive mental attitude can make all the difference in achieving our goals. Our thoughts and beliefs can either propel us forward or hold us back. It's important to cultivate a growth mindset and embrace the process of progress. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Celebrate your small wins, and use them as motivation to keep going. When you encounter setbacks, view them as opportunities to learn and grow. With a positive attitude, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve your goals.
In conclusion, the quote "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you can do it properly" by Zig Ziglar is a powerful reminder that progress takes time and patience. By embracing the power of habit, positive routines, time efficiency, and a positive mental attitude, we can achieve our goals and live a fulfilling life. Remember to budget your energy wisely, focus on one habit at a time, create positive routines, use your time efficiently, and cultivate a positive mental attitude. Enjoy the process of progress, and celebrate your small wins. You got this!
